Sonic cringed as he grasped the elemental Sword of Fire. A sudden wave of pain raced through his body, reminding him of when the Flame Arrow had pierced his heart in the world of Arabian Nights. He heard a voice cry out and realized it was his own as he felt a blast of firey energy travel from the sword to his hands and through his entire being. The heat seemed to sear his flesh, then it shifted. It went deep, down into his very soul. He could feel himself burning from the inside out, until it felt like only his spirit remained. The sword slipped from his hands and fell to the ground. It was then Sonic realized he wasn't dead, but he wasn't the same. He could FEEL something within him had been changed, and seeing everyone staring at him confirmed it. Turning, Sonic ran to the other room, he had to know what had happened. He skid to a halt in front of the mirror and stared. The fur on his muzzle, arms, belly, and inside his ears had turned darker, and grown long and shaggy. Small spines framed his face and the ones on back of his head were sleaker. More spines sprouted from his forehead and these were adorned with crackling flames. Flames also danced on his ears, wrists, and ankles. It was then he noticed his shoes and gloves were gone. And he was wearing orange metal wrist and ankle bands under the fire. He stared at his fur. The blue fur that was his trademark color had changed to look like black crusty rock, with firey bands of molten lava shining through cracks. On his chest was a shining blue symbol, the likes of which he'd never seen before. And a tattoo-like marking glowed over his left eye, the symbol for Fire. Even his eyes had changed, the usual green glimmer now shone like burning coals. "Wh-what is this?!" Sonic asked the mirror. "What happened to me?!"

In his new life since shedding his old identity, Nicholas found some of his family willing to take him in, among them the reincarnated soul of Maria and the reborn Gerald Robotnik. It's been discovered that magik seems to run hidden in their family, because like Gerald and Air, he soon discovered he was capable of weilding Birth, one of the eight True Elements. Nicholas takes his Elemental form when his power peaks, or when he is using the elemental Sword of Birth to amplify his own powers. The yellow tatoo over his eye is the arcane symbol of his element.

Virus is more of an anti-hero than truely evil, and usually comes out when Nick gets exposed to too much dark energy at once. He prefers to mess with people's minds rather than to harm them. Although it was Virus's actions that ended up getting Nick cursed.

Gerald Robotnik reborn as a hedgehog, holding the elemental Sword of Air. Lineart drawn in pencil, then scanned in and traced on computer. Sometime after his rebirth into a new body and new life, Gerald discovered he himself had a gift for magik that had laid dormant within him for many years. It turned out he was carrying magik that was particularly strong in one of the Eight True Elements, specifically the element Air. The scar over his right eye is the result of an accident with a cursed sword.

Professor Gerald Robotnik reborn as a hedgehog. During the 50 years after his death, his spirit lingered in the ARK until the day that Zero returned with his adoptive father, the hedgehog Shad who was skilled in the arts of magik. By utilizing one of the Eight True Elements, the element of Birth, Shad was able to resurrect Gerald's soul back to life. However, since his old body was long since dead, Gerald was reborn as a young adult male hedgehog. Gerald has since found the reincarnated soul of his granddaughter and lives with her, her husband, and their extended family.

When the bad future ravaged by Iblis was erased, Mephiles still lived. A chance encounter with Zero as he suffered a relapse triggered a peculiarity of Zero's condition known as Bond Effect. The pain was enough to break the hold of the dark forces that had been controling Mephiles for thousands of years, and allowed him to revert back to his normal form. He deeply regrets all the things that he did when he had no control over his Dark actions. Mephiles, it turns out, came from a Crystaline planet nearly 200,000 years ago. In his youth, he failed to heed the warnings of his elders and in playing with a dark force known as Cosmos energy, he became possessed by the evil. The crystals, it turns out, were a natural part of his body and since his return to normal he has also shown an ability for creating, shaping, and manipulating crystals. He later became Zero's adopted brother when Shad took him in, and has shown skill in the True Element of Water.

Even before his capture and starvation, Zero knew that it was inevetable his condition would activate, and since a physical blow to the stomach triggers a relapse, he knew it would limit his physical activity. As a result, Zero constructed a computer program and built into it a simulation to be capable of doing all the things he wouldn't be able to. Using Nicole's base as a design template, he constructed Nick, Nicole's "brother". Nick has proved to be much more than just a computer. He operates an all-terrain RV and has proven himself to have a soul capable of wielding magik. Since this picture was taken, he has learned to manipulate the True Element of Darkness, which as something of a side effect caused his fur to turn several shades darker. Despite his liking for Darkness and dark things, Nick hasn't turned into one of the bad guys. Darkness, it turns out, does not always equate to evil, just as Light does not always bring good. Lately Nick's RV has been seen parked near Shad's house, and he has taken to wearing sunglasses as a result of a curse that leaves him vulnerable to strong light.

A friend's fan-interpretation of the SEGA character Shadow the hedgehog. He adopted the nickname "Zero" when attempts to clone him had some degree of success. The nickname indicates that he is the original. The initial "B" denotes his native dimension in the multiverse. Zero sufferes from an incurable genetic condition placed in him by his biological father Black Doom. This condition causes his metabolism to be hyperaccelerated and was originally intended as a means for Doom to control Zero. As a result, he's always at least 20 lbs underweight and must eat at least once per hour. If he doesn't get the food he needs, his body starts to shut down and he slips into a coma, this state is known as a "relapse". If food is not somehow forced into his stomach when he's in a relapse, he will slip into stasis, where all body functions shut down completely, even his heart and the electrical activity in his brain. It's as close as he gets to death. A physical blow to the stomach can also trigger a relapse or send him straight to stasis if it's strong enough. Only two things can revive him from stasis: A machine in the ARK that only Gerald knows how to operate, and one of Shad's more powerful spells. The condition was originally dormant, but two years of being captured, tortured, and starved by his world's Eggman caused the condition to flare up and become active. On one of his travels, Zero entered another world where he found a different, more whole version of himself. Taller, more muscular, and scar covered, this other Shadow who went by the name of Shad quickly became Zero's adopted father. It has since been discovered that Shad's wife Rosalyn is actually Maria reincarnated.
